Privateer Press is an awesome company in terms of providing prize support for Monsterpocalypse. We’ve signed up for four I Chomp NY related events. If you haven’t already, please sign up on their Privateer Events website and then visit Battlegrounds’ venue page to pre-register for the event. If we get at least six players pre-registered two weeks prior to an event’s start date we’ll get limited edition prize support! All players that pre-register will receive a limited edition “Shadow” unit (it has the same stats as the unit of the same name plus cloak) that you cannot in boosters. Additionally, if you win the most Monsterpocalypse games that day you will be the proud owner of a limited edition Mega Form! See below for a list of the dates of the upcoming I Chomp NY events and the prizes you can sign up for and win! Monsterpocalypse events are all part of Wargame Club and the games you play also count towards your Wargame Club ranking. We play Monsterpocalypse every Saturday but the dates below are the dates that prize support will be given out. You have to show up to get the goodies so mark the dates on your calendars!

I Chomp NY, the first expansion for Monsterpocalypse, has landed at Battlegrounds. Monster boosters contain either one monster with its Ultra form OR two buildings. Unit boosters contain five unit figures. There are only four new buildings in this set but they’re all modeled after iconic New York City landmarks. Each faction also has two new monsters and four new units. Also in stock is the official I Chomp NY Strategy Guide which comes with a new map!

The Christmas holiday season is upon us and, in the spirit of the season, we’re doing a food drive at Battlegrounds during the month of December. If you bring in cans of food to any of the miniatures tournaments, each can you donate will get you a ticket to re-roll one die result you don’t like! Each die may only be re-rolled once and there is a maximum of five re-rolls per player per tournament. Once collected, the food will be dropped off at a Salvation Army food cupboard at a nearby grocery store. So come on out, help the hungry, and increase your victory odds by doing so! The following are the events where the cans-for-re-rolls will be in effect:

Friday, October 31st is Hallowe’en and Battlegrounds is celebrating this with a day of horror and monster-filled gaming. Check out these special events taking place from the moment the store opens on Hallowe’en 2008!
Zombie Survival Marathon (12PM to 4PM)
From the moment the store opens everyone is invited to participate in a massive game of the “Zombies!!!” board-game. There will be a gigantic map and NO HELI-PAD. There ain’t no escaping this time! Players are free to join in the game at any point starting at noon. The winner will be the person that kills the most zombies. If you die you go back to the town square space and lose half of your zombie kills. The key to winning this one will be playing smart, playing hard, and playing for a long time! The cost to participate in this event is free and there will be a great prize for the winner!
Monsterpocalypse Tournament (4PM to 8PM)
What’s more appropriate for Hallowe’en than doing the Monster Mash?!?!? We’ll be having a three-round Monsterpocalypse tournament and the winner will receive a limited edition MEGA FORM monster of his/her choice! The cost to participate is $5.00 (see Paul and pay now to secure your spot) and players must bring their own miniatures (one monster in Alpha and Hyper form, up to 15 units, up to 12 buildings), dice, map, life counter, rulebook, and anything else you need to play.
Special Late-Night Hallowe’en RPG Event (8PM to ???)
The details on this event are still being finalized but Paul will be running a late-night role-playing game event with a horror/Hallowe’en theme. Expect the body count to be high in this one! See Paul at the store for more details and to secure your spot at the table
Costume Contest
Make sure to show up at Battlegrounds in your Hallowe’en costume. A prize will be awarded for the best costume!
Battlegrounds Champion 2008
You still have time to accumulate Victory Points between now and Hallowe’en. The person who earned the most Victory Points between 1-Nov-2007 and 31-Oct-2008 will be crowned the 2008 Battlegrounds Champion!
REMEMBER: Your existing Victory Points will expire at 8PM on October 30th (Devil’s Night)! Make sure you go into the store and spend ‘em because any unspent Victory Points will turn into pumpkins (and by that we mean they expire).

Privateer Press has announced that Monsterpocalypse, their new collectible miniatures game, has an official street date of October 10th, 2008. The long-awaited, action packed strategy game has already riveted the attention of the hobby game industry. Come in and see why!
