Congratulations to D.O.A. and head coach Jordan Bassett (pictured below smoking a celebratory pipe) for winning the first ever Battlegrounds Blood Bowl. It was a hard-fought battle against the orcs of Da Pain Train but D.O.A. claimed football’s greatest prize in a 1-0 victory. The Fancy Lads’ Man-Gore Camel-Toe received the Spike Trophy for ending the season with the most star player points.

Season 2 of Blood Bowl begins on Sunday, July 5th. No rest for the wicked! New teams wishing to join the league may do so with a budget of one million gold pieces. See Paul at the store to order your team. We will be voting in a new commissioner on July 5th so do all you can between now and then to garner support if you want the job!

The regular season will go from July 5th to August 16th with playoffs and the Blood Bowl Cup taking place in the final two weeks. The winner of the Blood Bowl Cup will receive 70% of the victory points amassed during the regular season and the runner-up receives 30%. With only four regular participants in the Spring league the winner of the Blood Bowl Cup earned a staggering 56 VPs and second place earned 24! This total will climb even higher with more teams in the league.

One change for the summer league will be that league games may only be played on Sundays at Battlegrounds. This is to make record-keeping for the commissioner as simple as possible. League games will remain at $3 per participant.

It’s time to start earning the hardware! The first season was fraught with casualties and injuries but this is where it all pays off! This will be round 1 of the playoffs and it’s single elimination, winner take all!

Match 1: Dead on Arrival VS. Napoleon’s Dynamite
The DoA Necromantic team has been rolling over the competition and wracking up star player points like nobody’s business. Head coach Jordan Basset has placed his faith in Werewolves and it has been paying off for him in victories. That being said, don’t count out the upstart humans of Napoleon’s Dynamite. Nick “Angel of Death” Goodwin leads this squad from the sidelines and, although his team may not have the most wins in the win column, he is merciless on the pitch putting casualties first and touchdowns second.

Match 2: The Fancy Lads VS. Da Pain Train
Early on in the season, Coach Engler’s Orcs took one of the worst thrashings at the hands of Mexican head coach Adam Alejandro Gazpacho El Guapo Zapaots Maria Conchita Alonso Hamilton in the history of Blood Bowl. Minotaur Man-Gore Camel-Toe on the ‘Lads is a shoe-in for Most Valuable Player for the league… if he survives. Coach Engler is also the commissioner of the league this season and throughout most of the season he’s kept the two roles admirably separate this policy has clearly gone out the window for the playoffs. Engler has hired a mercenary team of ogres managed by profiteer Paul O’Cthulhu to play Da Pain Train’s stead.
